Moon Landing won The Maritimer Stake for three-year-old pacing fillies, co-sponsored by Standardbred Canada, in straight heats equalling the track record at Exhibition Park Raceway on Saturday afternoon

After wiring the field in 2:00.4 in her $8,736 elimination three races earlier, Moon Landing returned to victory lane for her New Brunswick connections with another front end effort in the $11,648 final.
Leaving from Post 2 in the final with Todd Trites picking up the drive, Moon Landing took control of the field featuring the top four finishers from the eliminations and carved out fractions of :29.1, :59.2 and 1:28.2 en route to the 1:58.1 track record equalling triumph. The time of the mile equalled J K Beauty’s record for sophomore pacing fillies.
Favourite Honey Do Jigtime (Clare MacDonald) finished one and three-quarter lengths behind in second while Mooshy Mooshy Bea (Danny Romo) came on for third over the other elimination winner, Charolettes Maggie (Darren Crowe).
The daughter of Quick Comeback-Igiantstpfrpankind, bred by Dr. Hugh Baird of Hampton, N.B., is trained and owned by Patrick Eastwood of Saint John, N.B. Now nine-for-12 with three runner-up performances this year, she has banked $41,872. Her lifetime record now stands at 12-7-1 in 23 starts with her earnings totalling $65,173.
The victory provided Trites with his fifth on the 15-race card.
