A pair of Standardbred Canada co-sponsored stakes events have been drawn and are set to be contested over the course of the next two days in the Maritimes

A pair of $2,822 fifth-leg divisions of the Erwin Andrew Memorial Aged Mares Pacing Series has been drawn for Summerside Raceway's Friday, August 28 live program.
The dashes, carded as Races 6 and 10, will feature five and six-horse fields, respectively.
Five-year-old Intrepid Seelster mare Whitesand Whisper is the 5-2 morning line favourite for the first division. Trained by Alan MacDonald and to be driven from Post 3 by Allan Smith, Whitesand Whisper has banked $5,827 from 12 seasonal starts. The mare sports a record of 2-1-3 so far this campaign and has won in 1:58 this year over the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The early favourite for the second of the Erwin Andrew divisions is eight-year-old Cambest mare Abby Best, which is scheduled to leave from the outside Post 6 with Mary Clare MacDonald. The student of Angus Maclean has compiled a stellar '09 resume. From 14 seasonal starts, the brown mare has won 10 races, recorded a pair of second-place finishes and one third, good for purse earnings of $21,451. The quickest the mare has won in this year is 1:55, taken over Truro Raceway.

Heat racing will be coming to Exhibition Park Raceway Saturday, August 29, as the Maritimer Stakes for three-year-old pacing fillies will be the highlight of the 16-race docket.
The $10,315 elimination heats will go postward as Races 11 and 12. The top fillies from each of the elimination heats will gain entrance to the final heat, carded as Race 16 with a $13,754 purse.
The Mary Clare MacDonald-trained and driven Larshegoes has been installed at the 5-2 morning line favourite from Post 2 in the first of the elim heats. The Largo lass will be facing off against eight foes. The filly has compiled a record of 1-2-3 from 11 starts this year, good for $28,551 in purses.
The second of the elim heats features the Allan Smith-trained and driven N Xample lass R Es Mary as the early fave at odds of 5-2 from Post 6. The filly has missed the board just once this season. From 11 starts this year, R Es Mary has tallied three wins, five second-place finishes and two thirds, banking over $32,000 in the process.
