Horsin’ Around for Childhood Cancer, an event to create awareness and raise funds for Childcan, will be hosted by Clinton Raceway on Sunday, September 11
.
Childcan is an organization that raises funds to provide responsive and compassionate support services to families facing the journey through childhood cancer – from diagnosis, treatment, recovery, or bereavement.
September is childhood cancer awareness month, and Clinton Raceway wants you to get involved to do your part to “beat the odds” of childhood cancer. The afternoon program, which gets underway at 1:30 p.m., will be filled with fun, excitement and entertainment for the young - and young at heart. As a tribute, Clinton Raceway will have a lap of the track dedicated in honour of those who continue to battle, and those who have courageously lost their battle to early.
Clinton Raceway is inviting all families who have been affected by childhood cancer to participate in this day at no cost to them. Clinton Raceway will provide lunch and activities to keep the little ones busy and for those wanting to support a wonderful cause in the area, a twoonie auction, face painting, freezies, popcorn, lemonade and a cookie stand will be on site. Happy Hands of Wax from Stratford will also be on site making creative wax memories!
Kids of all ages will have the chance to get up close and personal with a retired race horse. Free photos will be available from 1:00-3:30 p.m.
For anyone interested, here’s how you can get involved:
• Sponsor a race for a $50 donation to CHILDCAN and a $50 prize to be draw after your race!
• Donate an item to the Twoonie Auction
• Need a hair cut? We’ll have a hairdresser on hand, cutting hair for CHILDCAN!
• Volunteer to pop popcorn, bake cookies, hand out freezies, and other duties!
