Daughters of State Treasurer swept the divisions of the Maine Sire Stakes on Friday, Aug. 21 at Skowhegan State Fair with No Small Wonder and Wine For The Lady delivering nearly identical efforts.

With a pair of $23,000-plus divisions contested as non-betting events before the afternoon card, No Small Wonder pushed her unbeaten streak to five with a lifetime best effort in the first split.

Leaving from the inside post in her field of four, No Small Wonder made every call a winning one for driver Kevin Switzer Jr. After fractions of :30.2, 1:01.2 and 1:31, No Small Wonder paced home in :28.4 for the 1:59.4 score. Feel The Fury (Aaron Hall) finished 1-1/4 lengths back in second with Lilian G (Dakota Niles) completing the top three.

No Small Wonder (State Treasurer - I Am Wonder Woman) is trained by Kevin Switzer for owners KDK Standardbreds of Cumberland, Me., Kathleen Mofield of Bedford, Ma. and Anthony Sivik Jr. of Orono, Me. She's stashed away $55,382 in those starts.

Wine For The Lady also earned a new lifetime mark in her Sire Stakes division, winning wire-to-wire in 2:00 for driver Hall and trainer Marc Tardif. Leaving from post three, Wine For The Lady uncorked fractions of :29.3, :59.4 and 1:31 before closing in :29 to best her four foes by more than three lengths. Bettors Treasure (Mcgwire Sowers) was next best followed by Gracie Deucey (Dave Ingraham).

Owned by breeder Leighton Property of Waterboro, Me., Wine For The Lady (State Treasurer-Ladyofcastlebrook) is now a three-time winner in her five-start career with $39,317 accrued.

Live harness racing action continues at Skowhegan on Saturday, Aug. 22 with three $17,000-plus USD Maine Sire Stakes divisions for two-year-old male pacers.
