Rideau Series Action Continues

Rookies were out in full force at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Monday for the third leg of the Tara Hills Stud Trotting Series, the Frisky Fillies Pacing Series and the Boys Of Summer Pacing Series

My Ideal Hanover took her division of the Frisky Fillies Pacing Series in gate-to-wire fashion for the duo of driver Todd Warren and trainer Robbie Robinson. The Western Ideal-Mydancecardisfull miss led the field through fractions of :28.3, :59.1 and 1:29.4 before sprinting home in :28.3 to register the 1:58.2 decision. J Js Tassie Girl sat a pocket trip throughout and wound up second, with Last Run grabbing the bronze medal.

Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, My Ideal Hanover is now 4-for-4 for owners Stephanie and Brian Cassell of Gloucester, ON. They shelled out a mere $2,200 to purchase the youngster from last year’s New Jersey Classic Yearling Sale. She has stashed away $12,200 in earnings to date.

Vicky Killean took the other $6,100 splits, and in doing so celebrated the first victory of her career for trainer/driver Guy Gagnon. After finishing seventh in last week’s pari-mutuel debut, the daughter of Western Maverick-Victorious Killean turned a pocket trip into a 2:00 triumph in Monday’s assignment. Majo Ebony Janes was second with Patti Omara taking home the show dough.

Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc and Jean Louis Seguin of Gatineau, QC own the freshman who was purchased for $10,000 from last year’s Canadian Yearling Sale.

Day Dream overcame late interference to win the opening division of the Tara Hill Stud Trotting Series in 2:04.3 for driver Gord Brown and trainer Mark Steacy. The daughter of Muscles Yankee-Dream N Lindy, who used off-the-pace tactics in the $6,100 affair, drew off to win by one length despite being bothered by a breaking rival in the stretch. Fore Seasons was second and A Cs Winner rounded out the top three finishers.

Hudson Standrdbrd Stb Inc of Hudson, QC owns the rookie who was an $85,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale. The win improved her record to 1-1-0 in two starts.

Majestic Taglet was a driving away winner in her $6,100 tilt for driver Mario Charron and trainer Claude Beausoleil. The daughter of Majestic Son-Tags Goal parked past the quarter pole in a :30-second clip before clearing, and once she was in command she laid down middle splits of 1:01.2 and 1:32.2 before using a :30.3 final quarter to post the 2:03 decision. Sent off as the 1-5 choice, she defeated Springtimeinalaska and Wholookatyou.

Roland Rocco of Lasalle and Benoit Gendron of Beaconsfield, QC share ownership on the filly, who improved her freshman record to 2-0-1 in three tries. The $6,000 purchase from the 2010 Canadian Yearling Sale has earned $17,930 to date.

Twin B Impressive and Warrawee Newton dead-heated for the win in the opening division of the Boys Of Summer Pacing Series. Claude Cadieux worked out a pocket trip for Twin B Impressive while Denis St. Pierre rallied from far off the pace with Celestial Dreams, and both colts hit the finish line together in a time of 1:57.3.

Cadieux trains Twin B Impressive for Gestion Jean Yves Blais of Montreal, QC. The son of Bettors Delight-Impeccant was a $57,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale.

Conditioner Colin Johnson co-owns Warrawee Newton, who was a $12,000 purchase from last year’s Canadian Yearling Sale, with Fred Brayford of Alliston, ON and Ecurie JGV Enr of Laval, QC. The son of Mach Three-Scootin Ideal now owns a 1-2-0 record in five career tries.

Huxley stepped to a new lifetime mark of 1:55.3 in the second division for driver Gord Brown and trainer Dave Menary. The son of Modern Art-Heavenly Hudson enjoyed a three-hole trip to the half before mounting a first-over challenge. He used a :28.3 final quarter to win by 1-1/2 lengths over OK Ebury, with Retail rounding out the top three finishers.

Sent off as the even-money favourite, the gelding improved his record to 2-1-0 in three starts for Burke Racing Stable LLC of Fredericktown and Weaver Bruscemi LLC of Canonsburg, PA. The $7,500 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale has put more than $7,000 on his card.
