It has been reported that there is interest in bringing live harness racing and slot-machine gaming to the Brockton Fairgrounds in Massachusetts if Plainridge Racecourse is forced to close.
An article by The Sun Chronicle explains that businessman George Carney is interested in bringing racing to the raceway --- a former greyhound track that is currently designed for thoroughbreds --- if Plainridge is to ultimately close its doors.
The report has cited Carney as saying that although his track --- which has not held races in some years --- is currently for thoroughbreds, it can be widened to accommodate harness racing.
