Three-year-old pacing colt Reys N A Commotion ran his win streak up to six this weekend at Wawanesa as he won an elimination heat and the final of the Manitoba Great Western Fair Stake.

After winning his $3,606 elimination in gate-to-wire fashion in 2:04.1 during Saturday's card, Reys N A Commotion returned to the track three races later to take top honours in the $4,476 final with a 2:03.3 effort.

The other elimination winner, filly Throw The Bouquet (Roland Rey), established the early lead with the inside post advantage in the final and posted opening panels of :29.2 and :59.4. However, driver Don Howlett made his move at the half with Reys N A Commotion and swept around Throw The Bouquet with his stablemate Hands Downs (Michel Rey) left first over. Reys N A Commotion led the field by three-quarters in 1:31.1 and into the stretch while widening his margin to two and a half lengths. Youshouldseemenow (Ron Cullen) rallied off cover to place while Hands Down finished third. Throw The Bouquet finished a dozen lengths behind the top three.

Howlett shares ownership of the Armbro Trench colt with Trevor and Michael Williams of Winnipeg, MB. The Richard Rey trainee is now seven-for-nine in his sophomore season with earnings amounting to $13,067.

Howlett dominated the seven-race card driving the last five winners of the day, including four for Rey and the Williams. One of his victories for Rey and company came in the $1,700 first leg of the MHHI Claiming Series with front-stepper Mackenzie Seelster. The 12-year-old son of Camluck won the 1-1/2 mile pace in 3:11.1. Meadowlarks Legacy (Marc Fillion) and Rays Folly (Ron Cullen) finished second and third.

Sunday's card was highlighted by My Fine Ingot's 30th career victory in the $1,700 Open Pace for trainer and owner Ron Turnbull of Treherne, MB. Michel Rey sent the nine-year-old Allamerican Ingot gelding down the road to win in 2:01.3 by a head over Outlaw I See Red (Ron Cullen). Last week's winner, Dance Step (Greg Manning), finished less than a length behind in third. The win followed a triple dead-heat for second last weekend and was his second in his last three starts.
