In light of the letter of intent announcement today from Baymount Inc., Belleville Agricultural Society president Doug Rollins has sharply stated that his organization may cut Baymount some slack

.

“We pretty near have to give them a little bit of breathing room,” Rollins was quoted as saying in an article by The Belleville Intelligencer. “They’ve gone this long and I just don’t want to see them go another building season. What I want is to see shovels in the ground this fall. I think the big thing with this is it’s giving them the opportunity to get their ass in gear.”

Baymount announced today that it has entered into a letter of intent with Plaza Gaming and Entertainment Corp. whereby Plaza will acquire a 75 per cent equity interest in Baymount's new Quinte Racetrack and Slots facility (QRS) in Belleville, Ont.

Baymount's vice president of operations, Ray Veeneman, is quoted in The Belleville Intelligencer article as saying construction will begin this fall.

I am looking forward to the time when there is live racing back in Belleville. I hope to get back into the game as an owner once the opening of the track draws nearer. It will be good to see racing back in Belleville.
