Two-year-old filly pacers held court at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Friday, Aug. 16 in Ohio Sires Stakes action with both winners, The Word Is Out and Odds On Hialeah, taking their respective $89,041 divisions in 1:53.

Prolific Fire (Austin Hanners) took the early lead in the first division towards the :27.1 opening quarter. The Word Is Out (Dan Noble) got away third and was first up just before the :57.3 half. Midway down the backside Noble edged The Word Is Out in front but Prolific Fire fought back going to the 1:24.1 third quarter. The Word Is Out would not go away, kept the pressure going to the stretch and won by three-quarters of a length over a fast-closing Odds On Chesapeake (Kayne Kauffman); Prolific Fire held on for third.

The Word Is Out, who won The Next Generation, is trained by Ron Burke for Burke Racing, Knox Services, Beasty and R A S Racing. The Well Said filly is now four for five with $246,990 in earnings. She was a $24,000 Ohio Selected Yearling Sale purchase bred by Shaffer & Sons.

Odds On Hialeah took the second division to stay a perfect four-for-four with Brett Miller up for trainer Virgil Morgan, Jr. The Lather Up filly got away third towards the :26.2 opening quarter. The outer flow developed quickly with Rose Run Ashlee (Noble) coming first up to take over from Queen Of Fear (Kurt Sugg) before the :55.3 half. Coming down the backside towards the 1:23.2 three-quarters, Odds On Hialeah was second over and then went three-wide around the last turn. She won by a half-length over another Kauffman-driven fast closer, Seaside Wishes; Rose Run Ashlee was third.

Odds On Hialeah is owned by Odds On Racing and now has $141,782 in lifetime earnings.

Racing continues on Saturday, Aug. 17 with a 5:45 p.m. first post. Highlighting the card is the $100,000 #SendItIn Invitational Pace for older horses, the $100,000 Cleopatra Invitational for aged mare pacers and the re-scheduled Ohio Sires Stakes for two-year-old filly trotters. The open trot and filly & mare open pace, which are normally held on Fridays, will also be on the card, along with the open pace. The 16-race card will start out with a $5,802 superfecta carryover in the first race.
