Harrington Feature To Slick Tony

George Leager’s Slick Tony was a 1:53 winner Monday at Harrington Raceway in the $13,500 featured conditioned pace.

The No Spin Zone stallion is one of the richest Delaware-bred horses of all time with nearly $700,000 earned in his career. Trained by his owner/breeder Leager, Slick Tony did not disappoint as the public’s choice in the eight-horse field.

He was immediately sent to the lead from post position two by driver Tony Morgan and never relented with a one length win over Trojan Banner N, who sat second throughout, and Wichita Lineman. It was the 38th career win for Slick Tony. He paid $3.20 to win.

Allan Davis had three wins on the card, while Russell Foster, Montrell Teague and Ross Wolfenden had doubles.

Earlier on the card, Artrageous ($2.40, Art Stafford, Jr.) notched her third straight win in 1:55.3 for trainer and co-owner Andrew Stafford.

Racing continues for the balance of August on a Monday/Tuesday schedule. Post time is 4:30 p.m.

In the feature, Wiggle It Jiggleit went off at 3.9-1, got away last, had the best view of the rest of the field for the first 3/4 mile, and was never a factor, finishing 7th (out of 8) by 8 lengths, in 1:54.3. About the best that you could say about his performance was that he had the fastest 4th quarter time. In the 11 months since he started his comeback, he has visited the winner's circle exactly once.
