Three-year-old pacing fillies took the track on Wednesday (Aug. 16) at Grand River Raceway in two divisions of the Prospect Series with Powder Play and Oh Gouda taking their respective splits for the fourth leg of the series.

Powder Play and Anthony Haughan settled into post four in the field of seven going for a purse of $8,700. Controlthedistance (Brett MacDonald) sought to control the timer, leading the field to the quarter in :27 and half in :55.1. Her efforts were followed by Dewitt This Moment (J Harris) and Powder Play. Before the three-quarters in 1:24.2, Haughan pulled his right line and sent Powder Play forward and led an outer charge that split the field in two. Around the final turn, Powder Play cleared and then, fended off challengers in the lane to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:54.1. Dewitt This Moment finished second and Brynley Seelster (Scott Coulter) rounded out the triactor.

Anthony Beaton trains the daughter of Sportswriter and the Western Terror mare Laurels Lea for owner Robert Woodburn. Powder Play now owns three career victories. She paid $6.80 to win.

In the second field of six going for $8,600, Oh Gouda (Michael Horner) wasted little time and charged from post three and right to the top. She handed out panels in :28, :57.3 and 1:26.1 before stepping home to a 2-1/2-length victory in 1:55.3. Chocolateforlunch (Haughan) finished second and Maple (Travis Henry) was third.

Horner trains Oh Gouda (Betterthancheddar-Oh The Joy) for owners R A W Equine Inc. and Mark Horner as she picked up her eighth win of the season and ninth career tally. Putting forth a career-best effort, Oh Gouda paid $15 to win.
