Pat Soulliere, president of Winrac Development Inc., has gone on the record in regard to stabling at Dresden Raceway and whether or not there will be live harness racing at the half-mile oval in 2014.
A report by the Chatham Daily News has cited Soulliere as saying that those stabled at Dresden Raceway were notified this past spring that they would have to vacate their horses from the premises three days after the final race-date of the season, which is scheduled for Monday, September 2.
"This isn't something we sprung on horse owners in the last few days," Soulliere told the Chatham Daily News during a telephone interview. "We wanted to be fair and give them plenty of time to make other arrangements."
When asked whether there will be live racing at Dresden during the 2014 season, Soulliere said that he couldn't answer the question because "It's up to the government. The next report on the industry is due in October at about the same time racing dates for the following year are announced."
