Waitforever N’s last start at Batavia Downs was a top-class win on July 30. After returning to her home base of Saratoga Raceway for one start last week, the eight-year-old came back to the Downs and took full advantage of a class drop to simply jog in a personal season’s best effort as she won the featured $15,205 conditioned pace for fillies and mares on Wednesday, Aug. 13.
Jim Morrill Jr. got away third with Waitforever N as Forgot Thewallet A (Joe Chindano Jr.) skated to the half in :55.2. It was there that Morrill pulled Waitforever N and quickly overtook Forgot Thewallet A to gain control of the race as they passed five-eighths. Waitforever N then reached three-quarters in 1:23.3 in front by 1-1/2 lengths before entering the last turn and separating from the field. When she reached the top of the stretch, Waitforever N was on top by 2-1/4 lengths and then swelled up and bolted home unchallenged to win by 4-3/4 lengths in 1:52.4. Rightfully Mine (Kyle Swift) finished second, with Morgans All In (Drew Monti) finishing third.
Waitforever N ($2.90) earned the fifth win in her last seven starts. The daughter of American Ideal-Waitfornoone is owned by Stephen Picarazzi, Darreyl Bullard and her trainer, Brett Derue.
Morrill, along with Kevin Cummings and Drew Monti, all had three driving wins on Wednesday while trainers Brett Derue, Maria Rice and Sam Smith scored two wins apiece.
Live harness racing resumes at Batavia Downs on Thursday, Aug. 14 with post time at 6 p.m., when the New York Sire Stakes will return with $110,000 USD in purse money available for the best two-year-old pacing fillies bred in the state.
