The Hippodrome 3R hosts five divisions of the Future Stars Series on Tuesday, Aug. 14 plus the drawing of post positions for the $200,000 Prix D’Ete that will be held on Sunday, Aug. 19.
The draw for the Prix D’Ete will take place in the winner’s circle after the fourth race on the program. The Prix D’Ete is the premier race of the season in Quebec and annually features the best four-year-old pacers in North America.
Tuesday night is the second round of the Future Stars Series for two-year-old pacers and highlighted on the card are two undefeated youngsters: Hurryupatthebeach and D Gs De Vito.
Hurrayupatthebeach starts from post four in the first race on the card and will be driven by Pascal Berube. The daughter of Up The Credit is unbeaten in four starts already for trainer Pierre Leclerc, who bred and co-owns Hurryupatthebeach with Gina Bragagnlo of Louiseville.
In her last start at Rideau Carleton, Hurrayupatthebeach took a lifetime mark with a 1:58.2 victory. She will face opening round winner Majeyca (post one), Olis Spirit (post five) and Akita Bayama (post six)
D Gs Fairystars headlines the second division, going as the fifth race, from post five for driver Jonathan Lachance. She goes against Black Elektra (post one), Cooking The Speed (post seven) and Flower Sena (post six).
The eighth-race third filly division features Better Now from post three for driver Stephane Brosseau. This son of Betterthancheddar is a newcomer to 3R for trainer Pierre Ouellette and ships in off a 1:59.1 win at Grand River Raceway in a division of the Ontario Sire Stakes Grassroots.
Also contenders in the race are Audi Bayama (post four), Moneymakehersmile (post five) and Fancy Girl (post six).
The colts compete in two divisions, the first being the third race where YS Sunshine and driver Stephane Gendron are the early favourite from post five. The son of Sunshine Beach won his opening round division with ease in 2:01.1 and has been race timed at Woodbine Mohawk Park in 1:55.2.
His main competition will come from Guinness Panic (post six), Blackjack Soleil (post four) and Sunshine Lou (post two).
Unbeaten D Gs De Vito competes in the second division from post two for driver Jonathan Lachance. The son of Sportswriter won his first pari-mutuel start in 2:01.1 and also won an opening round division of the Future Stars Series.
“I think he seems to be a little 'fighter',” Lachance said, “but it is early in his career and he still has a lot to learn about racing.”
Competition for D Gs De Vito in the race are Sport Emilio BG (post three), Riot (post five) and Angelo Benjo (post six).
Post time is 6:30 pm.
