Is your horse racing product front and centre on mainstream media outlets? Many tracks would have to say 'no,' but Great Canadian Gaming Corp's Chris Roberts, horseman Anthony MacDonald, a horse named 'Obama' and race secretary Sheri Minler-Grabatin are certainly doing their part to get the industry's product to

the masses.

With Flamboro Downs' Confederation Cup XXXIV program the big feature this Sunday at the half-mile Dundas, Ont. oval, the track's director of racing, former Trot Magazine Editor Chris Roberts, got MacDonald, 'Obama' and Minler-Grabatin to bring the product to those which may not know.

While speaking with newswoman Lori DeAngelis on the CHCH Morning Live news show, Roberts and crew put their best foot forward and outwardly promoted Sunday's high-end, multi-heat stakes event for some of the continent's top three-year-old male pacers.

In addition to explaining some of the nuances of harness racing and promoting one of the nation's top annual stakes events, Roberts et al let DeAngelis serve as the special drawmaster for the initial heats of the multi-dash stakes event, which will culminate with a $547,000 final.

"This is one of the key races in Canada -- one of the key races in North America. You win the Confederation Cup, yeah sure you're going to have a big payday, but it means a lot on the prestige end of things," said Roberts, who explained that the track is expecting roughly 10,000 people to attend the races on Sunday.

"Lots of promotions and a lot of family fun here. We've got 'money machine madness,' 'deal or no deal,' a lot of chances for people to win thousands and thousands of dollars in prizes, tons of food and beverage specials -- the place will be serviced like mad. So, we guarantee that if you come out to Flamboro Sunday for the Confederation Cup, you're going to have a good time."
