Watermelonwine battled neck and neck with the popular pacesetter My Tie Wind throughout the $1,200 Winners Over Pace featured on Wednesday at Inverness Raceway, eventually persevering in 1:59.3 over the 'good' track conditions.

Watermelonwine prevailed by one and a quarter length while pocket-sitter R Es Bobby edged out My Tie Wind for the runner-up role. Macnamarra and Great Vintage completed the compact field of five.

The former Ontario Sires Stakes Gold champion, who had not competed in a pari-mutuel race in 2014, earned his second consecutive victory in five starts racing on the East Coast this year for trainer/driver Ross MacInnis and co-owner Frank MacInnis, both of Nova Scotia.

The seven-year-old son of Life Sign now has 16 wins on his resume, including a 1:49.2 sophomore track record at Georgian Downs, and career earnings totalling $426,566.
