Former National Football League tight-end and coach Mike Tice experienced the 'excitement of his life' this past Thursday (August 8) when he realized he had assembled the only winning ticket on a Pick 6 at Del Mar, which returned over $100,000.

A report by ESPN explains that after having handicapped the wager, Tice bet a total of $128 going after the Pick 6 and nailed it. The payout was $100,796.20.

As the ESPN piece explains, there was an NFL angle in the successful wager, as the second race of the Pick 6 was won by a horse by the name of 'Tebowing,' in reference to current NFLer Tim Tebow.

"Sure, there's some luck involved," Tice told ESPN. "But I had the form out for two days and handicapped it."
