Karl, the top ranked trotter in harness racing and dramatic winner of the 2024 Hambletonian, will return to action for the first time since that million-dollar masterpiece in the Meadowlands slop on Aug. 3.
Thus far in 2024, Karl has raced exclusively at The Meadowlands but in 2023 his main base of competition was The Red Mile in Lexington, Ky. He returns to the Bluegrass state on Tuesday, Aug. 13 in a $80,000 USD leg of the Kentucky Championship Series.
A son of Tactical Landing - Avalicious, Karl has drawn post three for his Tuesday test, facing seven rivals in the afternoon's sixth race. The double millionaire is 6-5 on the morning line for driver Yannick Gingras, trainer Nancy Takter and owners Christina And Nancy Takter, Black Horse Racing, Crawford Farms Racing and Bender Sweden Inc.
In 17 starts, Karl has yet to finish worse than third with a summary of 15-1-1. Secret Agent Man (PP2, Andy Miller, 4-1) and Dame Good Time (PP5, Scott Zeron, 6-1) appear to have the most serious chances to upset.
First post time at The Red Mile on Tuesday is 1 p.m.
