Five $13,300 divisions of a late-closing event for New York-sired three-year-old trotting colts and geldings, including two non-wagering events, highlighted Batavia Downs' Wednesday, August 10 program.
Wanda Polisseni’s Purple Haze Stables is loaded in the three-year-old NYSS trotting ranks with the talented Dejarmbro and Im The Answer. Hallin Cash is hoping to make that duo a trio.
Taking full advantage of his Post 1 starting spot, Hallin Cash, with trainer/driver Dan Daley in the bike, went down the road to a much-the-best, two and three-quarter-length score in 2:01.3. The Cash Hall colt's final time included a :28.4 final quarter.
“He did it easy, he was good tonight,” Daley said in the winner’s circle.
The performance was the third win of the season for Hallin Cash ($2.60), who raised his 2011 bankroll to $38,487 in the process.
The other winners in the late-closing event were:
- Bless America (Dream Vacation--Ta Ta Canada), who is owned by Edward Reich and Irwin Lampert, is trained by Gary Messenger and driven by Roman Lopez, was victorious in 2:00.2
- Alighieri Lindy (Dream Vacation--Armbro Alfresco), who is owned by Thomas and Kimberly Frarey, trained by Howard Okusko and driven by Jack Flanigen, stopped the clock in 2:01.3
- Glorious Winner (Credit Winner--Fox Valley Flan), who is owned by Tanah Merah Farms, trained by Erv Miller and driven by driver Lewayne Miller, was a 2:00.4 winner in one of the non-wagering dashes
- Small Bills (Cash Hall--Mini Shuttle), who is owned by Albert and Michelle Crawford, trained by David Jannone and driven by Stephane Bouchard, was a 2:01.2 winner in the other non-wagering contest
Batavia's NYSS season will now take a short break, but will resume at America’s oldest lighted harness track on August 26 when the three-year-old pacing fillies will take centre stage in both sire stakes and late-closing events.
