On Thursday, Aug. 10, Hollywood Casino at The Meadows will kick off three straight days of Pennsylvania Sires Stakes and PA Stallion Series action, with some of the sport’s most promising young horses vying for more than $540,000 in total purses.
The Thursday focus is on freshman filly trotters, with the Delmonica Hanover going as Races 8 and 10. Keep your eye on Little Town Road (Race 8, Post 7, Brian Zendt), who’s been winning sires stakes — and fair stakes — for owner/breeder/trainer Roger Hammer.
Friday’s spotlight shifts to the Super Bowl (Races 1 and 3) for three-year-old colt and gelding trotters.
Saturday’s stars are sophomore filly pacers contesting the Romola Hanover in Races 1 and 3. Hall of Fame trainer Linda Toscano sends out three, including C Is For Cookie (Race 3, Post 5, Yannick Gingras), an eight-time winner already this year, and Odds On Hail Mary (Race 3, Post 6, Scott Zeron), whose 1:49 victory in a June 10 Meadows PASS split is the fastest mile this year by a three-year-old filly on a five-eighths-mile track.
On the wagering front, Thursday’s program features a $5,000 guarantee for the early Pick 4 (Race 1) as well as a pair of carryovers: $1,056.50 in the Early Pentafecta (Race 4); $949.06 in the Pick 5 (Race 8).
First post Thursday and Saturday is 12:45 p.m. while Friday’s program begins at 5:10 p.m.
