Driver Billy Dobson went into the Saturday (July 8) evening card at Saratoga Casino Hotel just three wins shy of the 5,000-win milestone. And after wins with Gary Levine trainees Mister Godro and Hestherightstuff, he was on track for the achievement in the 10th race with Black Edition N.
Trained by Rob Harmon, Black Edition N and Dobson left from the inside and secured the lead. The pair held nothing back as they maintained at least a one-length lead over the rest of the field, setting the tempo through panels in :27, :56.3 and 1:25.1. Black Edition N crossed the wire in 1:54 with a comfortable 1-3/4-length cushion, giving Dobson career driving win 5,000. Century Endeavor finished second and Chip Walther rounded the top three.
Harmon Racing Stable LLC and Cass Gallagher co-own the six-year-old Bettors Delight son as he moved his career record to 14-13-6 in 50 starts with $93,006 earned.
Racing continues at the Spa on Sunday afternoon with a 15-race card highlighted by the New York Sire Stakes. First post is at 12 p.m.
