Harrah’s Hoosier Park showcased a trio of Indiana Sire Stakes (INSS) first-leg divisions for two-year-old trotting fillies on Tuesday, July 7, kicking off the season's rookie INSS competition.
Queen Ada Jean charged late to win the $65,714 first split as the 3-1 third choice in the wagering.
Leaving from the rail in the field of seven, Kyle Wilfong guided Queen Ada Jean into fourth, allowing for challengers to pass by as second-choice Janae (Jordan Ross) went off stride at the start. Rebuffpinklady (Doug Rideout) was the quickest off the wings, leading to the quarter in :29.1. Queen Ada Jean moved up a place as Gladden (Jay Cross) jumped it off from third, while Rebuffpinklady showed the way to the halfway mark in :59.4 with Judys Legacy (John De Long) sitting in second. Longshot Rebuffpinklady hit the turn strong, separating from Judys Legacy to three-quarters in 1:29.4. Queen Ada Jean took off in the stretch, gliding past Judys Legacy before accelerating to the lead and cruising home a 3-1/2-length winner in 1:58.1. Savings Account (Marcus Miller) rallied for second from the backfield, while Rebuffpinklady faded to third.
The winning Dover Dan-Challax Hanover filly is trained by Jay Hochstetler, who co-owns her with Finkelberg Racing LLC and South Of The Tracks Rac Inc. The two-year-old, now one-for-two lifetime, was bred by John Bontrager Jr. Queen Ada Jean paid $8.40 to win.
Dance Remix flew down the lane off a first-over advance to win the $66,429 second division.
Away from post six, Dance Remix found a seat in midpack as Verity (Jared Finn) blitzed to the lead from the outside to produce the first quarter of :27.4. Verity’s lead was short lived as M Ms Vision (John De Long) surged past the leader down the backstretch and hit the halfway mark on top in :59. Dance Remix led the charge from fourth, pushing along the outside as M Ms Vision maintained her lead to the three-quarters in 1:28.3. Headed for home, Dance Remix turned on the jets, boosting past M Ms Vision with a :27.2 rally to cross the finish line in 1:56.3 two lengths clear. M Ms Vision held second, while In the Buff (Kyle Wilfong) took third.
Henry Graber Jr. trains Dance Remix for S&R Racing Stables and Indiana Stables LLC. The Rebuff-Antsy Dancey filly, bred by Richard Fry, made her debut with Tuesday's win. She paid $7.60 at the windows.
Unburdened followed suit in the $65,714 third division, making her career debut a winning effort with Marcus Miller in the bike for trainer Erv Miller.
Unburdened was away third in line from the rail while Satin Serenade (John De Long) rocketed to the top from the outside post eight to cut the opening quarter in :28.3. The field raced single file on the backstretch, with Satin Serenade laying down middle-half fractions of :59.3 and 1:29.2 before Miller right-lined Unburdened. Once fed racetrack, the 1-2 favourite gobbled up ground, trotting home in :27.2 with a statuesque Miller in the bike to cruise to a two-length victory in 1:57.1. Twister Sister (James Yoder) shook loose for second, with Intricate Dance (Doug Rideout) finishing third.
The winning daughter of Temporal Hanover-Muscle Baby Doll was bred by Black Creek Farm and Hickory Hollow Stables. Unburdened is owned by Ervin Miller Stable Inc., Anthony Lombardi and D&M Trading LLC and is now one-for-one to begin her career. The win price was $3.
