Stakes Galore At Summerside

A full card of stakes action was featured on Wednesday at Summerside Raceway including 10 Callback Stakes divisions for two-year-olds and a trio of Maple Leaf Trot divisions for three-year-olds

.

Ringmaster was the master of his $5,900 Callback Stakes division – one of five on the card for two-year-old pacing colts. The son of Fit For Life – Shes A Doll was a dominant force in his career debut winning by seven and a quarter lengths in 1:58.1. Trained, driven and owned by Claude Poirier of Havre-Aux-Maisons, Que., Ringmaster, a $7,200 Atlantic Classic sale purchase, carved out fractions of :29, :57.3 and 1:27 all the while extending his lead to 12 lengths by the top of the stretch. The fan favourite then coasted home for the victory over Mr Salming (Gilles Barrieau) and Full Of Finesse (Bernard McCallum).

Freddy My Boy also made his debut a winning one for trainer/driver Jason Hughes and owner Michael Collings of Charlottetown, P.E.I. After securing the lead at the half, the Western Success – Ima Snortin Too gelding rolled to a one and a quarter length score in 2:01.

Allbentouttashape front-stepped his way to a 2:02.1 victory in his split for Sean Dooley, who trains, drives and owns. The Quick Comeback – C A Lady gelding is now two-for-two in his freshman campaign.

Driven by Walter Cheverie, Elwood Lawton’s Southview Anand cruised to a two and quarter length victory without facing any serious challengers in his division. The Astreos – Southview Sasha colt won his first parimutuel start in 2:00.3.

Artizzmoe, a hombred son of Artesian – Champagne Flutie, converted a perfect pocket trip into a 2:01.4 maiden-breaking triumph with Danny Romo in the bike for trainer and owner Alex Baird of Trenton, N.S.

J J Solara was the fastest of the fillies winning her $8,050 division on the front-end in 2:02 for trainer/driver Mary Clare MacDonald. Owned by Morah Kerr of Greenfield and Phonsie MacEachern of Port Hood, N.S., the Coasttocoast Yankee – Farline Hanover miss won for the first time in two starts.

Woodmere Destiny and driver Walter Cheverie took the second filly split in 2:05 after making the lead before the half. The Ronnie Gass trainee, a daughter of Artesian out of Woodmere Teardrop, won for the first time in two tries for owners David MacPhail and Roderick MacLean of Cornwall, P.E.I.

Driven by Jason Hughes, R Es Miss Jen was a wire-to-wire winner in her division for trainer and part-owner Blaine McKenna. The N Xample-R Es Jen filly, now two-for-two in her career, tripped the teletimer in 2:03 winning by five and three-quarter lengths.

Switching to the trot, Howmacs Amigo won his $6,150 division by four and quarter lengths in 2:08.1 in wire-to-wire fashion. Allan Earl Smith drove the Amigo Hall-Wicked Whisper colt in his first outing for trainer Earl Watts and the Howmac Farms of North Wiltshire, P.E.I.

Bert Honkoop’s Meadowagogo-Leap Year Hanover colt, B J Eldorado, recovered from an early miscue to win the other trotting split in 2:13.2 by two lengths.

In sophomore action, Wiskeyandseven (2:05.3), Grayland Bling (2:05.1) and Oyster Bed Mary (2:07.1) won their respective $4,550 Maple Leaf Trot divisions.
