Fans at Evergreen Park on Sunday afternoon were treated to a fantastic day of racing as the Grand Prairie half-miler featured multiple divisions of the Alberta

Plainsman for Alberta Sires Stakes performers in the three-year-old pacing colt and gelding division.

Stealing the boys’ thunder, however, was the pacing mare Goodbadanddeugly N who established a new track record for distaffers when she tripped the teletimer in 1:55.3 for trainer/driver Ron Graham. The seven-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Perfect Parcel came first over and used a :28.3 final frame to post the neck decision over Admired Beauty. Five lengths back in third was The Big Slice. Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Goodbadanddeugly N is now 2-for-2 since being purchase by the One Last Horse Stable of Edmonton, AB.

As for the stars of the Alberta Sires Stakes program, Swiftys First Star drew first blood in his $17,267 division of the Alberta Plainsman for the duo of trainer Robert Sabourin and driver John Chappell. The gelded son of As Promised-Swiftys Girl used off-the-pace tactics to post a 1:58.3 victory over Westwood Franco and Cams Trouble Maker. The homebred, who is owned by Kurt and Kathy Schmidt of Leduc, AB, has put together a 2-0-1 record this season in his first three attempts. He has banked $57,186 to date.

Bill Tainsh, Jr. guided Wrangler Payday to a 1:56.4 in the second split. The Jeff McLeod-trained son of As Promised-Ja El Shamrock opened up a big lead at the head of the lane and held on to win by nearly two lengths over Bandit On The Run. Oblivious Boy grabbed the show dough. The homebred, who went 3-for-3 as a rookie, has picked up a win and a second-place finish in his first two starts of the 2009 season for partners Dr. Maurice Stewart, Maureen Stewart and Gord Rumpel.

Longshot players liked seeing Double L Jammer kick away to win by five lengths in the third division for trainer Richard Schneider and driver Brandon Campbell. The son of As Promised-Harsh Light, who won for the first time in three career tries, erupted for a 32-1 upset in a time of 2:00 over Notacent Tobemade and Luv You Too Bye. Schneider co-owns the colt with Sonia Knobbe of Regina, SK.

A 1:56 track record score was turned in by Wrangler Hitech in the fourth split for trainer/driver Keith Clark, who co-owns the son of As Promised-Raines Lucey with Robert Jones and Peter Giannakopoulos. The gelding drew off to win by nearly six lengths over My Candidate and Outlaw Spider, and in doing so he now sports a 7-for-10 record this season. His lifetime earnings jumped to $75,100 in the process.

In the final division Wassup Bernie went coast-to-coast in a time of 1:57.3 for trainer Rod Hennessy and driver Michael Hennessy. It was the second win of the season for the son of Freedoms Pass-Shes A Gogetter, who knocked off Rotten Randy and Scotty Pooh. The career winner of $21,609 is owned by Lorne Duffield of Edmonton and Rafter H Standardbreds of Millet, AB
