Six divisions of the MSSBA went postward on Saturday at the Holland Fair in Manitoba, with fillies slugging it out in a trio of The Silk Lace splits and the colts and geldings clashing in a trio of The Golden Boy battles

.

Gaits Princess (Dean Ray) kicked off the stakes action with a track record-equaling mile of 2:01.2 in the first division of The Silk Lace. The performance matched the mark originally established by My Friend Flicka on August 31, 2002.

Despite a first-over trip, Gaits Princess cleared to the lead at the three-quarter pole and then used a :29.3 closing panel to seal the deal by 2-1/4 lengths over What A Rose. Donnies Deal rounded out the top three finishers.

The Prince Brian-Gaitway To Joy miss, who is also trained and owned by Rey of St. Claude, MB, is now 2-for-2 to start her career after being unraced as a rookie.

Heartland Friendha also overcame a first-over journey to win her assignment in 2:03.2 for trainer/driver Marc Filion. The Firm Friend-Hah miss won by three-quarters of a length over K C Abba. Third prize was earned by Airdrie.

Allan and Carol Drader of Brookdale, Manitoba hold the papers on the filly who is now 2-for-9 in her career.

Special Flare (Roland Rey) took the final division of The Silk Lace, and she used last second heroics to do it. The Abbatom-Little Wild Thing miss circled from last-to-first to claim the top prize by a neck over Anythingbutordinary. Toms First Dance grabbed the show dough.

Rey also owns and trains the filly, who won for the first time in just her second lifetime assignment.

Aidans Prince rallied to a 2:03.2 victory in the opening division of The Golden Boy for the tandem of driver Darryl Mason and trainer Sherri Mason. They share ownership on the son of Pants With Me-Red Star Babe, who won as he pleased over Alcars George and In Grand Style.

The pacer now has a win and a second-place finish on his resume in his first two outings.

Rewind Realslo (Dean Rey) was second and later placed first as a result of interference committed against him going to the three-quarter pole by the original winner, Aces Attitude. That pacer made a break while on the lead, and that impeded the progress of Rewind Realslo. Aces Attitude recovered and stopped the clock in 2:05.2, but was placed second behind Rewind Realslo for causing interference to that foe. Cheryls Boy was third.

Rewind Realslo, who was 2-3/4 lengths behind the original winner at the finish line, earned a mark of 2:06 and the lion’s share of the $3,082 purse for trainer Robert Ross, who co-owns the son of Firm Friend-Laralee with Arlene Ross of Virden, MB.

Yoyo Pepere (Roland Rey) won as he pleased in the final division of The Golden Boy, stopping the teletimer in 2:06.1 in the process. He wore down Art For The Heart, who ended up second, and fended off third-place finisher Jakes Last Friend en route to the maiden-breaking performance.

The homebred son of Abbatom-Whacthewytch is also owned and trained by Rey, who watched the gelding improve his record to 1-1-1 in three attempts.
