Rock N Soul waited patiently in the two-hole until the stretch to strike in the $30,000 Fillies & Mares Winner Over Pace on Wednesday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia.
The victory wrapped up a training triple for Ron Burke and was one of four on the 14-race card for Yannick Gingras.
Leaving from the outside post seven, favourite Economy Terror called the shots through fractions of :27, :56.1 and 1:23 while facing first over pressure from Southwind Jazmin. However, Rock N Soul shot up the pylons in the final quarter and out-sprinted her rivals to score in 1:51 flat. Economy Terror settled for second, one and a half lengths behind, while Marty Party rallied off cover and edged out Southwind Jazmin for third.
Sent postward as the 2-1 second choice, Rock N Soul paid $6.40 to win.
She has earned top three finishes in 12 of 16 seasonal starts to give her $124,450 in earnings and push her career bankroll over the million-dollar mark.
The six-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover is owned by Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Frank Baldachino.
