The Callbeck Stakes and the PEI Trotting Series highlighted a 15-dash program Wednesday at Red Shores Summerside.
Trotting filly Tyne Valley (2:07.4) earned her second win in a row when she claimed the opening division of the Callbeck for driver Mike Stevenson and owner/trainer Bill Roloson.
Pacing filly Dusty Lane Bria (1:59) remains perfect in stakes action, notching her third score for trainer Ken Wilkie and co-owner Larry Chappell. Kenny Arsenault did the driving for the winning connections. The Charlottetown native paraded three other winners for the grand slam, which included Frill Seeker in a trotting track record of 1:59.1 in the PEI Trotting Series for Ebbsfleet Stables, trotting filly Paymenowpaymelater (2:06.2) for owner Wade Peconi and trainer Earl Watts, and pacing filly Elm Grove Joanette (2:00) for owners Peter Smith, Larry Chappell and Gerald Morrissey.
The Watts stable also took top honours when Marc Campbell drove pacing gelding Timely Finesse (2:00.2) to victory. He is owned by Windemere Farms, David Watts, Thomas McGuffog and Geoffrey MacNeish. Trotting colt Undeniable (2:08.2), owned by Blair Hansen, gave Campbell a driving double.
Pleasure Girls, with trainer Ron Gass in the bike for owner Shelley Gass, upset the field to win the second PEI Trotting Series division, matching the trotting mares track record of 2:01.
In other action in the Callbeck Stakes, the Downey Stables' homebred pacing filly Jann Down (2:00) notched her first victory for driver Gilles Barrieau and trainer Stephen Mason. That combination also took top honours with Ubettowin (2:03.1) in her respective division.
Pacing colt Johnnybananas (2:00.1) recorded his second victory in a row for driver Jason Hughes and trainer/owner/breeder Jamie Smith. Hughes also engineered a winning trip aboard the Tom Weatherbie-trained pacing colt Dialamara (1:57.4) for owner/breeder Doug MacPhee.
Trainer/driver Clare MacDonald and owners Phonsie MacEachern and Morah Kerr celebrated two Callbeck Stakes victories with pacing filly Woodmere Dancenart (2:02.3) and colt Gritty Player (2:00.2).
The Callbeck Stakes wrapped up with pacing colt Harry Wilder (2:01) going wire-to-wire for driver Ken Murphy, trainer Clifford Murphy and owner Gordon Crozier.
