In an interesting turn of events in Massachusetts, it has been reported that Gov. Deval Patrick has stated that he would back a 'competitively bid slot parlour' in the state in exchange for the passing of six major bills

.

A report by The Boston Herald cites Patrick as saying that if lawmakers pass six measures -- among them, a crime package that includes a shorter time that cons’ records will remain public, an economic development bill, a health-care cost containment proposal and the supplemental budget -- he will consider compromising on slots.

The article says that Patrick is now open to allowing one competitively-bid slot parlour, or racino, along with licenses for three resort casinos in launching a new era of Bay State gaming.
