Two $5,700 divisions of the Standardbred Canada-sponsored Lady Crocus Stakes were contested Sunday, July 27 at Miami in Manitoba, and Jeannes Faith captured the fastest division with a one and a quarter-length victory in 2:15.1.

The divisions featured three-year-old pacing fillies and were initially carded for Saturday, July 26. The races ended up being contested on Sunday as part of a special two-race non-wagering card.

Jeannes Faith, a daughter of Armbro Baylor out of the Expensive Shooter mare Belle Sahbra, closed impressively in the second of the two Lady Crocus divisions for her trainer/driver, George Isman.

The bay had started from Post 3 and found herself third at the :33.3 opening quarter. Jeannes Faith had been shuffled back to fifth at the 1:08.3 half-mile pole. Isman had her out and gunning three wide at the 1:42 three quarters pole. The career winner of two of her four career races gobbled up real estate in the final quarter and got up for the win courtesy of a :32.4 final quarter.

Jeannes Faith is owned by Valerie Emerson and Richard Remillard of Gladstone, MB, but is currently racing under lease to George and Tara Isman of Gladstone.

Jeannes Faith now sports career earnings of $4,338. Her lifetime mark of 2:10.1 was taken earlier this year over Glenboro.

The first of the Lady Crocus divisions was won by Armbro Trench bay KwikKwik Lika Shaw and driver Michel Rey, who also came from off the pace to record a going-away win in 2:17.

KwikKwik Lika Shaw, who is out of the Straight Path mare Blaze Me A Path, started from Post 4 and found herself fifth at the :31.2 opening quarter and fourth at the 1:05.3 half-mile pole. Rey had pulled his mount out second-over in the race before going three-wide in the third quarter. KwikKwik Lika Shaw had bravened right up and was on top by two lengths by the time she clicked off the three-quarters marker in 1:40.1. She coasted home with a :36.3 final quarter and won by seven and a quarter lengths. Her win time of 2:17 went down as a maiden-breaking mark.

KwikKwik Lika Shaw is trained by Richard Rey, who also bred and owns the career winner of $4,166.
