On Wednesday, July 28, the House Financial Services Committee met to discuss Rep. Barney Frank’s proposed bill, H.R. 2267, the Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, and Enforcement Act, which was

ultimately passed by a vote of 41-22.

As reported by pokernewsdaily.com, the move is the first of many steps needed in order to have online poker regulated in the United States.

The bill will now face a second vote in the House of Representatives.

As the article explains, should the bill get a majority vote from the House, it would then be passed along to the Senate for another majority vote, before being signed into law by the President.

Several amendments -- 13 to be exact -- were made to the bill before it was passed yesterday.
