Broadies Song A Long Term Investment

With the $40,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold eliminations taking place this Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack, driver/trainer Rick Zeron is expecting big things from

his charge, Broadies Song.

The son of Camluck is coming into the event in first class shape as he captured the $130,000 OSS Gold final at Georgian Downs on July 10 stopping the clock in 1:51.

“I think this horse will be an Open pacer as a four and five-year-old,” said Zeron. “That’s why I don’t really want to chew him up at three and have nothing left. I think he’s an Open pacer because he has such high speed and can carry it a long way.”

Broadies Song’s main competitor this Saturday is Big Bay Point, who set the Canadian Breeders Championship stakes record in 1:49 for trainer David Menary.

“I’m ready for him (Big Bay Point),” Zeron added. “I know how that horse likes to race. I see Doug McNair is driving so he’ll probably get him raced up near the front end and I’d like to get spotted where I’m not too far back. But if I’m within four or five lengths at the top of the lane, he (Big Bay Point) will hear me coming.”

Broadies Song is owned by Stephen Scarff and Turnkey Stables.
