After having been sent away as the public’s second choice, The Randy Copley-trained and Mark MacQuarrie-driven Intended Royalty captured the $2,150 Johnny and Margaret Allan Ian Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday (July 28).

Intended Royalty ($5.90) fired straight to the lead from Post 3, cut all the fractions (:30.1, :59.1, 1:28.2) and nailed the wire in 1:57.2. His margin of victory was half a length.

The public’s choice, the Ryan Campbell-driven Dream On Dream On, had come first-up from fourth in the second quarter and did what he could to catch the leader, but Intended Royalty held firm and Dream On Dream On has to settle for second. Brookdale Buster (who was driven by Andrew MacLean) finished third, another five lengths in arrears.

Intended Royalty, who is owned by Randy and Edward Copley of Inverness, NS, has now won seven of his 19 starts this season and 33 of his 139 career calls to post.
