During a racing season which has seen multiple racetracks drop dates of live harness racing, one raceway has just done the exact opposite.
It has been reported that the Michigan Gaming Control Board has granted Northville Downs 28 additional race dates this season.
The added dates will take place on Fridays and Saturdays between August 14 and November 14.
An article on the situation by The Detroit News has quoted the gaming board’s executive director, Richard Kalm, as saying that the announcement updates an order that was given last month.
“Today’s actions update a June 16 order allowing Northville Downs to race Wednesdays and Thursdays and switch to weekends once Hazel Park Raceway completed its meet,” Kalm explained.
“Under the new order, we will have live harness racing every Friday and Saturday from mid-August through mid-November.”
