Three lifetime starts and three lifetime wins is the story behind freshman pacer Control The Moment, who captured Tuesday’s lone division in the second leg of the Dream Maker Series at Mohawk Racetrack.

In rein to Randy Waples, Control The Moment got away third while Derecho shot to the front and supplied the field with first-half fractions of :27.2 and :56. Control The Moment commenced a first-over rally on the way to the mid-way point, and he muscled his way to the front before they marched into the final turn. He hit the three-quarter pole in 1:24.1 before using a :28.2 closing quarter to win by a pair of lengths over Kokanee Seelster in 1:52.3. Adrian Hanover rounded out the top three finishers.

Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, Control The Moment prevailed for Maxwell and partners Howard Taylor, Edwin Gold and Ben Mudry. The son of Well Said-Lifesliltreasure bumped his lifetime earnings to $19,000 with the win.

The $36,400 final of the Dream Maker Series is scheduled for Monday, August 3.

Waples clicked later on the card with Somebeachsomewhere’s full-brother, Bring On The Beach, in 1:53. The three-year-old colt, who went 2-for-2 to kick off his career earlier this year at Pompano Park, rallied to win for the first time in three tries for new trainer Bruce MacDonald.

The colt came on strong in the late stages of the mile to post the win, though he had to sweat out an inquiry after a making a break just before the finish. The ORC Judges ruled there were no violations, and the colt’s number was left up. He will, however, be forced to requalify after making a break in his previous outing, as well.

Mardon Stables, Daniel MacIsaac and Paradox Farm Inc share ownership on the son of Mach Three-Wheres The Beach.

This week’s edition of the $34,000 Preferred Trot went to Daylon Magician, who notched his seventh win of the season for trainer/driver Jack Moiseyev.

The seven-year-old son of Kadabra-Daylon Marvel enjoyed a two-hole trip behind Riveting Rosie to the quarter pole in :27.3. Moiseyev stepped on the accelerator in the backstretch, and Daylon Magician had no problem sweeping to the lead. He hit the half in :56 before sprinting to the three-quarter pole in 1:23.4. A :28.3 final quarter was more than enough to draw away from odds-on favourite E L Titan. Third prize went to Slip Into Glide.

Daylon Farms Ltd of Komoka, ON owns the 32-time winner who now boasts a 7-0-2 record from 11 trips to the track this season. He went over $200,000 in season’s earnings with the win, and he’s quickly closing in on $2 million in career earnings.
