Trainer James McKague's homebred trotter Chip Happened extended his win streak to five with another dominant performance at Grand River Raceway on Friday, July 25.
Chip Happened began his current string of success with a career-best 1:55.2 tour of the Elora, Ont. oval on June 27 and matched his lifetime mark again with Daryl Theissen driving.
Sent postward as the heavy 1-9 favourite, the Lookslikeachpndale-A Promise Made gelding led at every call in an $8,800 conditioned trot while expanding his lead to 5-3/4 lengths -- putting his combined win margin for his five-race streak at 21-3/4 lengths. Vimy Ridge Venti (Jason Ryan) and Wheelin N Stealin (George Ketros) completed the top three.
Chip Happened, who started his season with a pair of runner-up finishes, has earned $26,500 in seven starts this year. Unraced as a two-year-old, he now has a career record reading 11-8-6 from 32 starts with a total of $63,406 accumulated in purses.
The trotter's Wroxter, Ont.-based trainer shares ownership with Jan McKague Weishar of Teeswater, Ont.
