BC Management To Become Breed Specific?

In an article discussing the current state of both Fraser Downs and the Hastings Park Racecourse, Rich Coleman, British Columbia's minister responsible for gaming, explained that he expects an August report to recommend that the current management body that runs thoroughbred and standardbred racing in the province be split.

"The two industries probably need to be decoupled to pursue separate and unique business strategies," Coleman was quoted as saying in an article by The Cloverdale Reporter.

Coleman added that he believes the move could be the formula for long-term sustainability of the horse-racing industry in the province of BC.

He also went on to say, "They have a different betting group and different clienteles."
