John Grant Passes

Trot Insider has learned that John Grant, a member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, passed away at his home on Sunday morning after battling cancer

. He was 84.

Grant, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame’s builders category in 1998 owned a long list of pacing and trotting performers in addition to playing a key role in the building and development of Flamboro Downs.

Grant was joined in the Hall of Fame in 2007 by his North America Cup-winning pacer, Bettors Delight, who was voted Canada’s Horse of the Year in 2001. Some of the other stars owned by Grant over the year were Jambo Dancer, Armbro Luxury, Beach Ray, Hornby Glory and Daisy Harbor.
