Once again swooping from last to first, I Will Do It claimed the $4,600 Fillies and Mares Open Pace at Miami on Saturday (July 22) for trainer Trevor Williams, who won four on the day, and driver Blake Piwniuk, who won five.
I Will Do It landed six length off pacesetter Outlaw Tootsieroll as she posted a :29.2 first quarter. Blake Piwniuk angled I Will Do It off the pegs as favourite Pure Addition got going on the rim to a :59.3 half. Looming nearer through three-quarters in 1:29.1, I Will Do It kicked off cover into the lane and nudged by Outlaw Tootsieroll in the closing strides to win by a quarter length in 1:59.1. Pure Addition finished third and Tami Blue took fourth.
An eight-year-old mare by Camluck, I Will Do It races for owners Adam Mace, Michael Williams and Aurel Vodon. She won her 17th race from 115 starts, has now earned $103,466 and paid $4.70 to win.
Blake Piwniuk paired with Trevor Williams for the conditioner’s other three wins on the card. Williams pupils Irish Luke (2:03.3 winning mile; $3.40 to win), Handcuffed (2:00.4; $2.80) and Tuff As Buff (2:01.2; $4.30) all found the winner’s circle. Piwniuk also piloted Cenalta Duramax (2:02.3; $9.50) to victory in the opener.
