Pacer Make Some Luck ($12.70) and trotter Finish Line ($11.40) defeated Sunday evening's Preferred 2 favourites, scoring in front-end fashion at Georgian Downs.
In the $11,000 co-featured pacing event, Make Some Luck turned back first challenger Spider Man Hanover (J Harris) as he raced on the lead through fractions of :27.1, :55.4 and 1:23 and won by two lengths in 1:51.2 over the oncoming 3-5 favourite Fine Diamond (Bob McClure). P L Jackson (Travis Cullen) finished third. The five-year-old Camluck gelding is campaigned by Team Jamieson -- driver/husband Jody and trainer/wife Stephanie. Jody also co-owns with Rene Allard.
Once he made front, Finish Line was never seriously threatened as he led wire-to-wire (:27.2, :56.3, 1:25.1, 1:55) in the trotting division and won by one length. Travis Henry drove the five-year-old gelded son of Yankee Glide for trainer Richard Moreau and owner Brad Grant. The 8-5 favourite Etruscan Hanover (Bob McClure) and Charlie Is A Joker (Travis Cullen) came on to finish second and third, respectively, for the Ben Baillargeon stable.
No Bu ($18.10) won the $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace after reeling in early speedster Sir Galahad (Paul MacKenzie) and drawing off in the stretch by more than six lengths in 1:51.3 for driver Scott Young and trainer Bobbie-Jo Weinholdt-Harris, who also co-owns with Debra Weinholdt-Harris. The nine-year-old Kilowatt gelding also bested the race's 3-5 favourite, Jimmy Be Good (Bob McClure).
