Charmed Life broke her maiden with a track record equalling performance in the $130,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final for two-year-old trotting fillies Sunday night at Flamboro Downs.

Driven by Paul MacDonell for trainer John Bax, the Majestic Son-Christina M miss established the lead from post five and carved out fractions of :29.2, 1:00.1, and 1:29.4 while Legzy (Sylvain Filion) applied first over pressure. Charmed Life turned back her challenger around the final turn and held off Bee A Magician (Rick Zeron), who rallied four-wide from the backfield and made it into the win photo. Legzy rounded out the top three finishers.

Charmed Life's winning time of 1:59.3 matched the divisional track record set by Birminghim in a 2005 OSS Gold Final.

The 12-1 shot paid $26.10 for the upset win, her first in three starts following top three finishes in a pair of Gold eliminations. The filly is owned by Parkhill Stud Farm and Goin To The Show Stable of Peterborough, Ont., Dale Debnam of Lindsay, Ont., and John Houston of Cobourg, Ont.

Driver Paul MacKenzie, Flamboro's top dash-winning reinsman of all-time, later celebrated his 7,500th career win. The Puslinch, Ont. resident won the fifth race with three-year-old pacing gelding Miracle Matts for trainer Ronnie MacLean and then the 12th race with six-year-old pacer Deacons Challenge, trained by Florian Rivest, to reach the milestone mark.
