Jodie Cullen, Canada’s leading trainer in wins and earnings, harnessed a quartet of winners to scoop half the card at Georgian Downs on Sunday, July 20.
Cullen’s first two winners, driven by her son Travis, led at every call. Five-year-old gelding Palladium Hanover ($5.40) went all the way in the opener to prevail by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.1, taking his third win in 27 tries this season for owners Paul Sanders and A1stable. Belmont Blazer ($5) fought off the game Puffs Last Shadow (Brett MacDonald) in the fourth race to win by a head in 1:56.1. Travis Cullen owns the gelding who is one-for-12 in his sophomore campaign.
Wannabeabigstar ($3.40) charged from off the pace to win the seventh race for Jodie Cullen, going three-wide entering the final turn and swooping to a 1:53.2 victory by two lengths with Ed Hensley in the bike. He improved to three-for-18 on the season for owners Sanders, JJJ Stables, and Travis Cullen.
Phone Nine One One ($20.60) completed the grand slam for the Cullen barn in the finale, kicking clear by 3-3/4 lengths down the stretch to score in 1:53. The win was his third in 23 attempts in 2025. Travis Cullen drove the four-year-old gelding whom he co-owns with Sanders.
Jodie Cullen has tallied 126 wins this season in 688 starts, a rate of 18.3 per cent. The Dundas, Ont. resident is on pace for a third straight year with 200+ wins and a fourth in a row with more than $2 million in earnings.
