The Cassidy Schneider stable was hot at Hiawatha Horse Park with a trio of successful Saturday night starters during the 10-race card on July 20.
Schneider's training triple kicked off with a bang in the evening's third race with a 32-1 upset winner as four-year-old pacing mare Moona ($67.70) fought off first-over challenger Allstar Playboy and the heavy favourite Thejackofdiamonds at the pylons to earn her first win of the season in 1:56 with Alex Lilley in the sulky.
Spun From Magic ($5.90) later dominated the seventh race field of trotters for Schneider, building up an insurmountable six-length lead with a quarter-mile to go and coasting home for the 1:56.3 victory with Lorne House catch-driving.
Dirty Lil Piglet ($8.80) and driver Andy Moore completed Schneider's triple two races later as the pacing gelding journeyed first-over from mid-pack to wear down the front-striding favourite, It Takes Two, by three-quarters of a length in a career-best clocking of 1:53.3. The victory also capped off Moore's own three-win night in the sulky.
All three winners are owned by Schneider's father, Colonel Schneider Jr.
With her three Saturday scores, Schneider moved into a tie atop the Hiawatha trainer standings with Cameron McQueen, both having sent out a dozen winners at the Sarnia meet. The Arthur, Ont. horsewoman, named the 2023 Future Star Award winner, has trained winners of 59 races in total so far this season and ranks among the top 10 trainers in Canada.
