With six months of the harness racing calendar complete, Trot Insider provides an update on the national leaderboard for drivers and trainers at the half-mile mark of 2023.

As he did at the first quarter, and as he's done the past two seasons, James MacDonald continues to front the field on the driving side for earnings. Canada's reigning two-time Driver of the Year, MacDonald's 2023 bankroll of $3,543,607 on Canadian soil leads the way, with Doug McNair ($2,634,717) and Louis-Philippe Roy ($2,482,653) swapping spots from their positions at the end of March to round out the nation's top three.

Brandon Campbell still leads the way in the UDRS category sporting a sparkling 0.478 average, and his 0.474 average for all drives this season tops in North America for drivers with at least 130 starts. Campbell leads Guy Gagnon (0.451), Marc Campbell and David Dowling (0.362) among Canadian drivers in this category.

On the dash leaderboard, Tyler Borth has posted 232 wins on Canadian soil and continues to lead those standings as he did at the end of March. Maintaining their spots in the top three in this category are James MacDonald (195) and Brandon Campbell (162).

Richard Moreau, Canada's 10-time Trainer of the Year, is posting stellar numbers once again with 142 wins and $2,487,190 in earnings on Canadian soil to lead both of those categories, while also ranking second in North America in earnings and third in wins. Jodie Cullen (103 wins and $1,250,738 in stable earnings) ranks second in the nation on both accounts. Third for earnings just behind Cullen is Carmen Auciello ($1,135,950) while Kelly Hoerdt sits third on the wins chart with 75 victories.

Among trainers with 130 or more seasonal starts, Mandy Archer bests the Canadian conditioners with a 0.477 leading UTRS followed by Isaac Waxman (0.461) and Jim Marino (0.454).

***All statistics include Canadian starts from January 1, 2023 to July 1, 2023, with 130 start minimum for URS.
