The future stars of harness racing are getting started at the Hippodrome 3R Tuesday, July 3 with both pacers and trotters in action.
In the fourth race pace, All You Can Dream, a three-year-old who was ultra-impressive in her pari-mutuel debut, returns.
Owned by Harold and Ariane Duguay of Pabos, All You Can Dream blew away the field last week in her debut, winning by 24 lengths in 1:56 for driver Sylvain Filion. The track record for three-year-old fillies is less than a second from her mark; 1:55.1.
"I was expecting a very good performance," owner Harold Duguay said. “She had qualified very well and I saw that she could at least break 2:00. I bought her last fall and I trained her all winter. It made me dream a lot because I saw that I had something special in my hands. I have already received some attractive offers but for now I prefer to keep her. She has something special in her.”
As for the driver, Stephane Brosseau, who had the privilege of qualifying her, the surprise was not great: "I came back better than a minute that morning with a certain ease,” Brosseau said. “I was expecting her to roll around 2:00 and maybe better."
On Tuesday, All You Can Dream, will take off from post 2 in the fourth race pace and will race against four-year-old fillies and mares. Her main rival, Butterfly BG, just won in two minutes, but was disqualified for skipping cones.
Sunshine Lou is the first two-year-old on card and this colt by Sunshine Beach starts from post one in the first race on the program, facing a field of six older rivals.
He will be driven by Stephane Brosseau and enters his first pari-mutuel race off a wire-to-wire qualifying victory in 2:03.2. Sunshine Lou could very well beat his older rivals for trainer Daniel Martin and breeder and co-owner Hudson Standardbred Stable, Dominique Michel and Daniel Martin of QC.
In the fifth race there are two two-year-old trotters on the program: Goodbyeinhereyes and HP Bruxelles.
HP Bruxelles starts from post two and is the faster of the two fillies. She is sired by E L Titain and was bred and is owned by Claude Hamel of Ayer S’ Cliff. Trained by Jean Tourigny and to be driven by Stephane Brosseau, she was second in her qualifying race and showed a :29.2 last quarter mile.
Goodbyeinhereyes goes from the rail for driver Denis Filion. This filly by RC Royalty is trained by Gabriel Beaumont and owned by Marie Breault of Laval. She was third to HP Bruzelle and trotted her last quarter mile in :30.4.
