Dan D Man Can continued his perfect start to 2026 as he won the $134,507 Indiana Sire Stakes (INSS) fourth leg for three-year-old male trotters at Hoosier Park on Thursday, July 16.
On the outside from post seven, Dan D Man Can was put to work early by Atlee Bender, powering towards the front to take over from Swan Affect (Marcus Miller) past the quarter in :27. Dan D Man Can slowed the tempo to the half in :56.1 and three-quarters in 1:25.2, with Premier Bluebird (Kyle Wilfong) first-up and 3-1/2 lengths back in third at the latter station. The field chased Dan D Man Can through the lane, but he held them off for a three-quarter-length victory in 1:53.1 over Swan Affect. Inverness Ave (John De Long) rallied for the show along the cones.
Now six-for-six at three, Dan D Man Can is owned by Red Barn Stable, Stepbystep Racing and Lava Java Stable. He boosted his career earnings to $406,959 with his seventh win from 15 starts. The gelded son of Dover Dan-Caramela Hanover is trained by Erv Miller. He paid $3.40 at the windows.
Earlier in the card, driver Jordan Ross recorded his 1,000th career driving win as he piloted the Missy Essig-trained Tipsy In Vegas to victory in the eighth race.
Tipsy In Vegas rocketed away from post one, forcing Ponda Avenue (Marcus Miller) to take the long way to the front in a :28.3 first quarter. Tipsy In Vegas reclaimed the lead nearing the halfway mark in 1:00 and cruised for the rest of the mile, reaching three-quarters with a two-length edge in 1:29.4 and finishing a 2-3/4-length winner in 1:57.1. Ponda Avenue (Marcus Miller) was second, followed by Im Tempted (Bender).
Ross began racing on the Indiana fair circuit in 2015, and his first win came in 2016 with Bolt For Home for trainer Robert Taylor at Converse. He made his pari-mutuel debut at Hoosier Park in 2017 and often partnered up with Taylor for his races at Hoosier during that time, including his first pari-mutuel win in 2018. Ross has since cemented himself as one of the top drivers at Indiana's premier venue, with 102 wins so far this season at the track.
In his career, Ross has totalled more than $14.1 million in earnings on 8,076 starts. The reinsman, who represented the United States in the 2023 World Driving Championship, is fourth in driver wins at Hoosier this season and has won three INSS races in 2026.
Live racing continues at Hoosier on Friday with a 14-race card featuring a single $94,000 USD fifth-leg contest of the INSS for sophomore pacing colts and geldings. The Friday-night program has the $10,000 guaranteed Late Pick 4 and the $10,000 guaranteed Late Hoosier High 5 done in partnership with the USTA’s Strategic Wagering Program.
