Former Baby To Boomer Series champions Paul and France MacLean completed a sweep of this year's $6,500 third leg divisions on Saturday night at Sudbury Downs.
Dannys Atthedance ($7.90), a runner-up in the first leg of the series during his Ontario debut and winner in round two, won his next division on Saturday in a career-best 1:57.1. The four-year-old son of Cammibest, who began his career on the East Coast, advanced first over from fourth to record his fourth win of the season in eight starts by three lengths. Driver Paul MacLean co-owns the pacer with Gisele and Edmond Paquette of Val Caron, Ont.
The other division was won by three-year-old Jet Lair gelding Frisky Burl ($14.90) in 1:57.2. After picking up cheques in the opening rounds, the Illinois-bred colt converted from the pocket to score his first Ontario win by more than five lengths. Paul MacLean also shares ownership of this Baby To Boomer division winner with Gerry Gauthier of Azilda, Ont. Unraced as a freshman, Frisky Burl is now a two-time winner in 21 starts.
The Baby To Boomer Pacing Series is a late closer for horses that are five years old and younger that are non winners of one race or $7,500 in lifetime purses. Fillies and mares are allowed $10,000. Winners over $15,000 lifetime are not eligible.
