According to an article on forbes.com, a lawsuit has been filed claiming that Freehold Raceway knowingly allowed someone described as a 'high roller' to wager millions
of dollars worth of bad cheques.
It has been reported that the actions ceased at some point this past March.
The lawyer for Marlboro, New Jersey resident Joseph Siragusa calls his client compulsive. The lawyer, Jeffrey R. Pocaro, is seeking a court declaration that Siragusa doesn't owe the track $554,000 in net outstanding 'rubber cheques.'
According to the article, the lawsuit raises the possibility that bad-cheque-based wagering was allowed so as to artificially increase the track's handle, or daily bet volume.
