A barefoot Hannelore Hanover rocketed to the lead in Saturday’s lone, $40,000 division of the Miss Versatility Series, and she didn’t look back for driver Yannick Gingras.
The Ron Burke-trained Hannelore Hanover powered through panels of :27.4 and :55.4 before coming under fierce pressure from race favourite Darling Mearas S. Those two battled to the three-quarter marker in 1:23.2 before Hannelore Hanover dug in and used a :27-second closing quarter to win in 1:50.2. Darling Mearas S was second best, with third prize going to Satin Dancer.
“She was very good tonight and hopefully she can build from here,” said Gingras. “When she got alongside me, I wasn’t sure what was going to happen, but when he did get there, my horse was digging and the last 10 to 15 strides I knew I was home free.”
Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Frank Baldachino and J And T Silva Stables LLC share ownership on the seven-year-old daughter of Swan For All-High Sobriety who won for the third time in five tries this season. The 45-time winner added to her cash stash that stands in excess of $3.1 million.
