The victory resulted in the 1,000th trip the winner’s circle for Marino, who engineered the win with the 10-year-old gelded son of Snafu.

The former resident of Surrey, British Columbia went winless in his first season of racing back in 1998, but he has steadily piled up wins since his rookie year.

His best season to date for winning races came in 2005 when he guided home 168 winners. From a money standpoint, his recorded his highest purse haul last year when he sat behind the winners of purses totaling $945,552. His lifetime purse total exceeds $5.4-million.
