Pebble Creek Rebounds At Northfield

Ontario-owned mare Pebble Creek, a two-time Fillies and Mares Open Pace champion at the end of June, made it back to the winner's circle at Northfield Park in the $6,000 top class on Friday (July 12).

The daughter of Modern Art is trained by Virgil Morgan Jr. for owner and co-breeder Debbie Bird of Harwood, Ont. Morgan called upon Wyatt Irvine to drive the six-year-old pacing mare.

Following a disappointing finish last time out, Pebble Creek started from post five. Irvine fired her off the gate and she led at every call, posting fractions of :27.1, :55.4, 1:24.4 and 1:53.4. She appeared to be giving way in the stretch, but dug in late and bested her competition by a head. Completing the race were Miss Two Punch, Shez Good Osborne, Sassy L Lynn, Posey Patch, Hello Camie, Umygeorgia Hanover, Tame The Dame and Medoland Sapphire.

Pebble Creek now has 13 career wins and earnings of $148,030. She returned $5.60 to win.

Congrates to owner Debbie Bird. Just think how fast she would go free legged?
